Shadows Peak

Open-world horror game focused on exploration.

Shadows Peak is an indie adventure game made by Andrii Vintsevych. The game is heavily inspired from the original version of Alan Wake, which was supposed to be an open world mystery game. You play as the writer Tom Blair who has decided to visit a mysterious place called Shadows Peak to gather materials for a new book about legends. Unlike most horror games, Shadows Peak allows you to explore large environments and progress through the game in a non-linear way. Some people claim that they saw something that they shouldn’t have been able to see there and, of course, there are some dark legends surrounding this place.

Shadows Peak Review

7 Total Score
Good

Shadows Peak is is an open world horror game with an interesting story and a smooth gameplay. A well designed environment and atmosphere, very moody and fun to explore with some nice touches and effects that are triggered by the players movement. When you wake up, you find yourself alone on the pier, confused and looking for answers. However, you have no guidance. All you have is a forked path back onto the island and a mysterious message. Made with the Unity engine, the game surprisingly looks pretty solid. The atmosphere and gameplay are super creepy, especially as you advance in the game. The game does an amazing job of blending atmosphere, jump scare, and the panic run for your life feeling. This is how a true horror game should make you feel.
