Lead your Corebots into battle against dangerous robotic foes, including devious bosses.
ReCore is an action-adventure video game developed by Comcept and Armature Studio and published by Microsoft Studios for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. Assume the role of Joule Adams, a young survivor of a terrible cataclysm who journeys from Earth to the desert world, “Far Eden” to build mankind’s new home. Combat in ReCore is fun and accessible, but also deep. Defeat your enemies—including massive boss creatures—with creative tactics, split-second timing, and by unleashing your Corebots’ unique abilities. The game is played from a third-person view, centering around Joule and her robotic companions, whose function is to aid her in combat and puzzle solving; these types of creatures are amenable to improvement, should players find the blueprints and materials to do so, which grants upgrades to their attack and defense. Craft components to customize your Corebots to create your perfect battle party, and then share your creations with other gamers online. Players can level up Joule’s weapons and vitality. Ranged weapons have four kinds of ammunition distinguished by the colors white, red, blue and yellow – but only the three latter ones serve the purpose to take down an enemy with a matching color.

ReCore leans on some beloved gameplay conventions while injecting some of its own, gloriously unique and fulfilling elements. ReCore’s story, combat and upgrade systems make it a thrilling and enjoyable experience. Joule is a likable protagonist and her robotic companions are outright adorable.. ReCore had a ton of potential and sadly squandered a good portion of it. The game still has moments of glory, and pulls inspiration from a lot of great games of the past.
