Darksiders is an action role-playing hack and slash video game series, inspired by the story of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse in the Book of Revelation. The game is developed by KAIKO and Vigil Games and published by THQ Nordic. Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. The series is focusing mainly on hack and slash style, with Darksiders being an action-adventure game containing a series of linear and non-linear paths. The games make frequent use of interactive puzzle elements, requiring the player to think their way through a series of levers, doors, elevators, portals, etc. in order to traverse areas and reach objectives.
